Rokhl Kafrissen is a journalist and playwright in New York City. Her twice-monthly “Rokhl’s Golden City” column covers new Yiddish culture in all its iterations and her op-eds regularly appear in newspapers all over the world. Her years as a supertitle operator on New York's lively Yiddish theater scene planted the seed for her most recent bilingual (English-Yiddish) play, Shtumer Shabes (Silent Sabbath), a black comedy about the dangers of ethnography. In the summer of 2021, she released a Yiddish translation-adaptation of Jimmy Buffett’s Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Screw? called Kum tsu mir (Come to Me). Kum tsu mir was recorded by an all-star klezmer trio and the video has now been viewed almost 10,000 times on YouTube.
