A 150 years old apartment building in Lodz, owned by my family, holds an entangled and conflicted history. Using anonymous photos, I look for an imagined connection to the history I was told, cherishing the unknown and absent. A sense of responsibility grows in me as I form a non-chronological story, allowing me to contemplate the personal, collective, and cultural memory and reflect the struggles and conflicts affected by the historical and political narratives.
This works was part of a show at the ‘Pracownia Portretu’ gallery in Lodz, Poland.
