KONSTANTIN AKINSHA is an art historian, curator, and art journalist. The fields of his expertise are cultural property looted and destroyed during WW2 and East European modernism. In 1991 he received George Polk Award for his articles about the Soviet removal of collections of German museums.
From 1999 to 2000 he served as a Deputy Research Director on Art and Cultural Property of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Holocaust Assets in the United States.
Since 2014 he curated several exhibitions of Ukrainian contemporary art. He runs a blog "Culture in Peril. Destruction of the Cultural Property of Ukraine by Russian Occupiers"
